Vbeam treatment before and after images

What is Vbeam?

Vbeam is a type of pulsed dye laser (PDL) that uses a concentrated beam of light to treat various skin conditions, particularly those involving redness or vascular issues. It’s often used to treat conditions like rosacea, acne scars, age spots, and even spider veins. Vbeam's unique technology delivers energy into the skin in quick pulses, targeting the blood vessels under the surface without damaging the surrounding tissue.

The Vbeam laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the blood vessels in the skin. This light is converted into heat, which causes the blood vessels to coagulate and collapse. Over time, the treated vessels are naturally absorbed by the body, leading to improved skin appearance.

Common Uses of Vbeam

Vbeam is known for treating a variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Rosacea: One of the most common reasons people seek out Vbeam treatment is to reduce the redness and visible blood vessels caused by rosacea. The laser can help calm the skin and reduce flare-ups.
  • Broken Capillaries and Spider Veins: The laser targets the tiny blood vessels that cause visible veins, improving skin tone and texture.  These become more common with age, but can also be caused by sun damage, injury, genetics, hormonal changes, even activities like hot yoga, that generally cause blood vessels to significantly dilate.
  • Hyperpigmentation: Vbeam can help treat age spots, sunspots, and freckles by targeting the pigment in the skin.
  • Acne Scars: The laser can also improve the appearance of acne scars by promoting skin healing and reducing redness.
  • Stretch Marks: In some cases, Vbeam can even help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, especially when they are red or purple in color.

Benefits of Vbeam

  1. Quick and Convenient: Each treatment typically lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
  2. Minimal Downtime: While there might be slight redness or swelling following the procedure, most patients can resume normal activities right away.
  3. Effective for All Skin Types: Vbeam is safe for most skin tones and types, making it a versatile treatment option.
  4. Long-Lasting Results: Results vary, especially depending on the reason for treatment, but they can be permanent.  In many cases, repeat treatments may optimize results.

What to Expect During a Vbeam Treatment

During a consultation, your practitioner will discuss your medical history and skin concerns to ensure Vbeam is the right choice for you.  You may also want to discuss the cost, as it will depend on the size and area being treated.

During the procedure, you’ll wear protective eyewear, and the practitioner will move the Vbeam handpiece over the targeted area. Most people report feeling a slight snapping sensation or mild discomfort, but the cooling system helps keep this to a minimum.  If you can tolerate the snap of a rubber band against your skin, you can surely tolerate Vbeam.
