David E. Geist, MD is a fellowship-trained surgical dermatologist with expertise across a wide range of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. He specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery for removing common skin cancers. He is committed to evidence-based, effective skin cancer management and reconstruction with individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Dr. Geist and his surgical team care for patients of all ages in our friendly outpatient surgical suites at APDerm®. Along with Mohs surgery and reconstruction, Dr. Geist performs cyst and mole removals, as well as cosmetic removals, scar revisions and earlobe repairs. Dr. Geist and his surgical team put patients at ease and are dedicated to providing patients with a comfortable and caring surgical experience.
Dr. Geist attended Yale Medical School where he graduated AOA. He then completed a medical internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston and dermatology residency jointly at Boston University and Tufts Medical Center where he served as academic chief resident. Dr. Geist followed this with a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at UMass. He remained on the faculty at UMass Medical School where he trained multiple residents in dermatology and fellows in dermatologic surgery. He is published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Leadership Program, and the UMass Quality Scholars program. Dr. Geist has spoken locally and nationally on dermatologic surgery and leadership. His professional interests include high-risk cutaneous oncology, Mohs reconstruction, melanoma management, immunosuppressed dermatology, leadership development, and quality improvement.
