David E. Geist, MD is a fellowship-trained surgical dermatologist with expertise across a wide range of skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. He specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery for removing common skin cancers. He is committed to evidence-based, effective skin cancer management and reconstruction with individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Prior to joining APDerm®, David E. Geist, MD served as the clinic chief for dermatology at UMass Memorial Medical Center and for five years as assistant professor of dermatology at UMass Medical School. After attending Yale Medical School where he graduated AOA, David E. Geist, MD completed a medical internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He then completed his dermatology residency jointly at Boston University and Tufts Medical Center where he served as academic chief resident.
David E. Geist, MD followed this with a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at UMass. He has trained multiple residents in dermatology and fellows in dermatologic surgery. He is published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Archives of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, amongst other journals. He is a graduate of the American Academy of Dermatology Leadership Program, and the UMass Quality Scholars program. David E. Geist, MD speaks locally and nationally on dermatologic surgery and leadership. His professional interests include high-risk cutaneous oncology, Mohs reconstruction, melanoma management, immunosuppressed dermatology, leadership development, and quality improvement.
